Zigmat’s Drummer, Daniel Duggins

Dan Duggins (33), drummer for Zigmat, suffered a massive stroke Tuesday April 27th and was rushed to the Staten Island University Hospital where he has since been on a respirator in the ICU. Dan has performed with Zigmat for the past 2 years. http://www.danduggins.com
Duggins is originally from Richmond, Virginia and moved to New York City to pursue his music career in 2004. He was on his way to play a gig in Staten Island with another band when he started experiencing major head pains, and was rushed to the Staten Island University Hospital nearby.
Sometime after he was in the emergency room when his stroke happened. Dan is currently suffering from almost complete paralysis. He is, however, able to move his foot on command and communicate by blinking his eye lids. He is aware of his state, but is unable to move or communicate in any other way.
Duggins currently does not have health insurance, and his family is struggling to cover all medical costs on their own.

Fronted by vocalist Monica Rodriguez and bassist Stephen Yonkin, Zigmat brings together an eclectic mix of world, punk, trip-hop and rock in a unique way that has won over critics and fans alike all over the US, Brazil, Mexico and Europe. Having toured Brazil and Spain extensively, Zigmat’s music has been featured on MTV, Billboard Magazine, Vanity Fair (Europe), and a national commercial in Brazil with supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Check out their final US show Saturday May 1st, 11:30 PM at Joe’s Pub before they head back to Barcelona, Spain for the famous Sonar Festival in June.
